Join Dr. Sultan Somjee, the internationally celebrated Kenyan-born ethnographer, writer and peace activist, as he discusses his new book, One Who Dreams Is Called a Prophet.

One Who Dreams Is Called a Prophet tells the story of the epic walk of Alama, a pastoralist Elder from northern Kenya who goes in search of the source of peace. Somjee’s book is based on his three decades of research work on Indigenous art, material culture, and aesthetic traditions of Eastern Africa. He will explain how Indigenous societies utilize material culture to foster dialogue, reconciliation, and peace. As a lifelong learner of peace heritage traditions, Dr. Somjee has learned peace is possible.
